Tim Miller Landscape Painting Workshop 21st January 2011

Tim Miller is a Masterful Painter and Draftsman. His understanding of light and the influences of light on colour is quite remarkable, and to my mind, place him alongside only a handful of Artists who have interpreted the Australian landscape in a unique and convincing way.
 
Tim currently teaches at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, Rockley Studios, and numerous workshops throughout Australia. His work has recently been exhibited to great acclaim at the NSW Parliament Building in Sydney, and he is currently exhibiting at the Redcliffe Regional Gallery in the ‘Honouring tradition. Contemporary Queensland Artists’ exhibition, until January 25th 2011.

In association with Atelier Art Classes and Salisbury Studios Queensland Incorporated, Tim will be presenting a workshop which is aimed at the artist who wishes to refine their approach to painting the landscape, and their understanding of light. The Landscape Painting Workshop will focus on:

• The properties of light
• The colour of the light
• Afterimage and seeing
• Ariel perspective

The workshop will begin with Tim demonstrating his painting technique, and conclude with you producing a work of your own.

Medium and equipment:

• You are welcome to bring Oils, Pastels, or watercolour.

• Colours – Your usual palette. Whilst Tim is happy to teach beginners, it would be fair to say that a little experience will make the workshop a lot easier for you.
• A portable easel. The French box type, or a tripod. Whichever is your preference.

• Brushes, paper, canvas, Etc. Again, your preference. Bring any fluids you might need, and be prepared to take any rubbish you generate home with you.
• For the safety and comfort of others, you are advised to bring odourless solvent if you are painting in oils.
• Be Sun Safe. You will be out in the sunshine throughout the day. It is strongly suggested that you make use of a wide brimmed hat, a long sleeved shirt, and factor 30+ sunscreen. You should bring an adequate supply of water too.

And lunch. There are a number of food outlets locally, or BYO picnic. Cold drinks will be available for purchase throughout the day. Tea and coffee will be available at the studio at the beginning and end of the day.

The workshops will be based at Salisbury Studios. 2b/9 Chrome St Salisbury Q4107, meeting at 9.00am for a 10.00am start. The workshop will take place at a local park which is a short drive away. Directions will be provided when you arrive. The workshop will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm

We are situated approximately 10 kilometres south of the Brisbane CBD

The cost of the workshop is $95.00. If you don't want to miss out, a $50 deposit will secure your booking, with the balance to be paid on the day. Bookings are limited to twelve.
