Scott teaching at the Life Class
The beginner will be guided through, step by step, exercise by exercise, to build up the concepts and skills necessary for more advanced aspects of figure drawing. For intermediate and advanced students, already familiar with drawing the figure, we will quickly revisit and articulate the basics, to make sure they are in place, before going on to push the higher-level considerations such as gesture, rhythm, emphasizing form and volume and exaggeration.
This class takes the student through from broad structural anatomy to the specific surface anatomy, covering life drawing process, and drawing process in general, gesture, and design in the figure. Everything is broken down to digestible concepts and exercises for the beginner, and the advanced student will be challenged with higher-level considerations and more advanced drawing methods and media.
Over the three hour session, half an hour will be spent investigating these topics using casts, skeletons and other models, and 2 and a half hours will be spent from the life model, when you will be guided in the application of these concepts and skills.
The tuition is individual, but I give some group demonstrations and exercises where several people are working at a similar level.
