Concept or tradition
Well, here's one I painted a few months ago. I'm sure I meant something deep and meaningful, and it is of course possible that the choice of character for each letter was important at both the superficial and the deeper and more spiritual level. Of course I could just be hiding the meaning behind a diatribe (which is as likely to obscure as hiding it behind a wardrobe), or it could just be that I propped up an old book of Roman lettering and placed a bunch of cheap toys in front of the book because I really like to paint still-life subjects. To be candid, I'm afraid that whatever my reason was, it has escaped me, but i'm sure the concept was sound. -
Collaroy
Collaroy is a beautiful cattle property which lies to the south west of Sarina in North Queensland. It, and a dozen or so surrounding properties are about to be lost forever under a dam. The purpose of of this destruction is to enable mining companies to wash coal. At last. Clean energy. Sickening really. -
